Sukumba ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a data subject.

1. Who We Are

Sukumba is a business management platform built for South African trades businesses. We act as the Responsible Party in terms of POPIA for the personal information processed through this platform.

2. What Personal Information We Collect

Account information: Your name and email address when you register.
Business profile: Company name, trade type, address, phone number, VAT number, and banking details you enter in Settings.
Customer & lead data: Names, contact details, and job history of your clients and leads that you capture in the CRM and Leads modules.
Financial records: Quotes, invoices, expenses, and supplier information you create in the app.
Operational data: Job records, checklists, worker time entries, and vehicle information.
Photos & documents: Receipt photos, job site images, and licence disc photos you upload.

3. Why We Process Your Information

To provide and operate the Sukumba platform and all its modules.
To generate PDF quotes, invoices, and reports on your behalf.
To send you transactional notifications (e.g. overdue invoice reminders).
To improve the platform and fix technical issues.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Your Customers' Personal Information

When you capture your clients' personal information (names, contact details, addresses) in Sukumba, you become the Responsible Party for that data in terms of POPIA. You are responsible for:

Obtaining your clients' consent to store their information.
Keeping that information accurate and up to date.
Deleting it when it is no longer needed.

5. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored securely on cloud infrastructure. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed.

6. Your Rights Under POPIA

Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Right to correction: You may update your information at any time via Settings.
Right to erasure: You may delete your account and all data via Settings → Danger Zone.
Right to object: You may object to the processing of your personal information.
Right to complain: You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg.org.za.

7. Cookies & Analytics

Sukumba uses session cookies to keep you logged in. We may collect anonymised usage analytics to improve the platform. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
